This Newcomb H-50 PA head has been converted to an amazing sounding guitar amp. It is a 50 watt, class A amp with 4 6L6 power tubes. The conversion was done by Steve Hunter at Electric Church Amplifiers in Athens Georgia. The amp was has been meticulously gone through and recapped, as you can see in the photos. The original rotary power switch was replaced by a standard switch. Channel 3 and 4 volume controls were removed and replaced with 1/4" inputs. A 1/4" speaker output was added to the rear of the unit, and the original mic inputs and speaker outputs are disconnected. Folding road case style handles with rubber grips were added to the sides. Built like a tank sometime around 1958, all the components are of the highest quality. In the photos you can see that one of the transformers has been replaced. Volume for the Channel 1 input is controlled by the "Channel 3" rotary knob, and Channel 2 volume is controlled by the "Channel 4" rotary knob. As you might expect, Bass and Treble controls affect both channels. I’m selling this amp because at my age anything bigger than a Blues Junior is going to throw my back out these days. The metal case is lighter than a wooden equivalent, but it’s still 38 lbs. It’s definitely a conversation starter at a gig. Switchable between 4, 8 and 16 ohms, all it needs is a speaker cabinet and you're ready to rock.
