This listing is for a Robert's by Akai model 771x reel to reel tape recorder in good condition. It was stored properly, and it's relatively clean. It Powers up, and the rewind and fast forward functions work. The pots all seem to work as well, as I do hear some slight crackling and hissing when I adjust them. When I run tape over the heads I do get sound out of it. It looks to be missing a cover of some sort that goes over the area where the heads are. I never had one of these as a kid, and it's a little before my time. My father had several of these but I never learned how they work exactly. I have a feeling I am not loading the tape correctly, so it may very well work fine. I have decided to sell it as it is, as I don't have the time to invest in it anymore. At a minimum, it will probably need some routine maintenance, such as cleaning of the pots etc., but since I have been unable to confirm every last function, it is possible it will need more. It's large, and is quite heavy, so it does have a shipping charge. Local pickup is welcome.
